Rex A. Begaye

Diné painter. He and Barbara met on 12 October 1998 and lived fifteen years on the Native American and fine art circuit. He passed in 2013. Everything else on this site is downstream of that.

Rex A. Begaye is not a page these two sites gave him. He is the person both of them are for. Path of Beauty Productions exists, in Barbara’s own words, because “his passing in 2013 inspired her mission to preserve his legacy of art, music, film and photography.” The album is dedicated to him. Wildfire’s CD was recorded on his flutes. The Huntoons’ logo is a sketch he drew of Barbara in 1999.

So this point holds what the two sites publish about him, and says plainly what they do not: the artwork site Barbara describes as “in the process of building” has not launched at either address. There is no gallery of his paintings to carry across. What follows is every photograph the two sites published in which he appears or that is captioned to him.

Named on both sites, and not in ours to change

Both sites write his name as “(the late) Rex A. Begaye”, and the Wildfire page adds “As a traditional Navajo artist”. Those are their words and they are kept exactly. His nation is written “Dineh’ Nation” on Path of Beauty Productions.

What the two sites say about him, in their words

A second film in the works is the documentary of (the late) Rex A. Begaye from the Dineh’ Nation.

A short documentary about (the late) Rex A Begaye and his journey to Sarasota. This film is Barbara’s introduction to share with the world, their life together and the love they shared, which leads the path of this journey she is on to preserve his legacy.

In addition, the Path of Beauty full length Film documentary is in production, which shares the story about the artist’s life. We will be posting updates here as the project progresses.

In the meantime, the “PathofBeauty….in the beginning” film is being reedited, registered and licensed. We will share the film soon!

“Path of Beauty…Harmony in the beginning” is the story of Rex A Begaye’s journey to Sarasota and the history of the journey Barbara and Rex took together from 1998 to 2013, when Rex passed on. Barbara continued his legacy with his festival and created this film to share with the world their journey together.

Path of Beauty part two is in production. The legacy of (the late) Rex A Begaye is the documentary of his life. Over the years, Rex and Barbara collected both film and photography, documenting their travels across the country doing Native events and fine art shows. Please see the gallery page for more images.

The First Feather Gallery film is also in production, which will share the process of creating the studio through 4 years of design process. This film will be released by Fall 2025.
